Stevenson’s army, December 21

Welcome to Winter!

– Noah Feldman lists how Supreme Court might handle the Trump ballot case

– My own view is like Jonathan Chait’s. The court’s decision was legally and morally right, but politically unwise.

– WSJ says finally US has renewed dialogue with Chinese military

– For some unexplained reason, the link to NBC news has not worked for the past day. Here’s the story I wanted to send: During a summit in San Francisco last month, Chinese President XI JINPING bluntly told President Biden that Beijing will reunify Taiwan with China, NBC’s KRISTEN WELKERCOURTNEY KUBECAROL E. LEE and ANDREA MITCHELL report. According to officials familiar with the conversation, Xi told Biden that China’s preference is to take Taiwan peacefully and not by force. Xi also told Biden that he had not set a time frame.
