  1. Other than spelling “Nabka” incorrectly (sb “Nakba”), Prof Stevenson may also not realize the extreme views Beinart often reflects. In this case first of all, the establishment of the Jewish State is clearly not considered a Diaster (Nakba) by most Jews worldwide and certainly not by Israelis. That pretty much establishes Beinart’s Bias #1. Further, choosing select quotes from historically extreme Israeli positions — that do not reflect a strong plurality of Israeli Jews today — hardly establishes the potential of “another Nakba” (bias #2). That “Expulsion is deeply rooted in Zionist history” belies the truth of Jewish Palestine’s many pioneers who firmly believed in coexistence between Arab and Jew. Zionism simply reflects the belief that the historical and Biblical homeland of the Jews was/is to be established in the Holy Land. For most Jews it’s a basic tenet of their Judaism; so, as such, Beinart’s statement reeks of antisemtism (Bias #3), about which Prof Stevenson should be keenly aware.

There’s more, too much more. Perhaps the good Professor would next offer one of many counterpoints to Beinart’s extremist views.
